About This Tour

Discover the beauty of one of Europe’s most spectacular mountain roads on a day trip along the Transalpina, also known as the King’s Road. Departing from Bucharest, this experience takes you through stunning alpine landscapes, spectacular switchbacks, and breathtaking panoramic views.

Transalpina is Romania’s highest highway, crossing the Parâng Mountains and reaching an altitude of 2,145 meters at Urdele Pass, the route’s highest point. Along the way, you’ll admire endless expanses of mountains, alpine meadows, and glacial lakes, in a setting that changes with every curve.

One of the highlights of the trip is a stop at Stâna Ștefanu, an iconic spot along the Transalpina, where you’ll have time to relax, take photos, and—if you’d like—enjoy traditional Romanian dishes in an authentic mountain setting. From here, the view of the Parâng Mountains is spectacular and is one of the most photographed spots along the route.

This excursion is designed especially for seniors who wish to rediscover the beauty of Romania at a leisurely pace, but it is open to all lovers of nature, fresh air, and spectacular mountain scenery.
