Day Trip to Bulgaria – Varna & the Old Town of Nessebar
About This Tour
We invite you on an unforgettable getaway to our neighbors’ shores to discover Nessebar, the true pearl of Bulgaria’s southern coast. This journey will take you through a unique blend of the ancient and the modern, to a place where history comes to life. The scenery is truly spectacular: the old town is situated on a small peninsula, connected to the mainland by a narrow strip of land, where the rocky shores drop dramatically into the sea. Before we arrive in this fairytale realm, we’ll make a well-deserved stop in Varna, where we’ll admire the imposing Cathedral dedicated to the “Assumption of the Virgin Mary.”
Every step through Nessebar will take you back in time, as the settlement has been continuously inhabited since the 2nd millennium B.C. Thanks to its strategic location, the site successively attracted the Thracians, Greeks, Romans, and Byzantines, all of whom left their mark on the local architecture and culture. This exceptional historical richness has transformed the old town into a veritable open-air museum, recognized and protected worldwide.
Once you arrive, you’ll have free time to spend exactly as you wish. You can take a leisurely stroll among the traditional wooden houses, enjoy a delicious lunch at one of the terraces overlooking the sea, or hunt for authentic souvenirs in the small artisan workshops. It’s the perfect opportunity for a day of relaxation, spectacular photos, and priceless memories.
