About This Tour

The European Art Gallery at the National Museum of Art of Romania invites you on a fascinating journey through the visual history of the continent. Based on the prestigious collection of King Carol I, later enriched through valuable donations and acquisitions, this exhibition represents the country’s most significant selection of international art. Each room is a gateway to a different era, offering you the opportunity to connect directly with the vision and technique of the great masters.

As you walk through the museum’s galleries, you’ll discover the chronological evolution of European schools of painting and sculpture. From the unmistakable drama of El Greco and the richness of detail in Rubens’ Flemish masterpieces to the vibrant colors of French Impressionists such as Claude Monet and Paul Signac, the visual experience is truly overwhelming. It is the ideal destination for an inspiring getaway right in the heart of the capital, a place where art transcends time.
