About This Tour

Discover a valuable part of Romania’s historical heritage on a captivating journey through Vrancea County. The day begins with a solemn stop at the Heroes’ Mausoleum in Mărășești, a magnificent monument designed by architect George Cristinel and dedicated to the memory of those who sacrificed their lives for their country. From here, the route takes us to the village of Câmpuri, where we’ll step inside the Moș Ion Roată Memorial House. This traditional peasant home will immediately connect you to the authentic spirit of the 1859 Union of the Romanian Principalities, revealing the simplicity and charm of rural life of yesteryear.

To round out the cultural experience with a culinary one, we’ll stop to enjoy a hearty traditional lunch at Gastro Local Căprițele lui Robert. Here you’ll be treated to tastings of cheeses, traditional smoked meats, soup, and dessert—all accompanied by local beverages and prepared with ingredients sourced directly from the farm. After this authentic feast, we’ll find peace of mind at Brazi Monastery. This Orthodox place of worship hides a fascinating underground chapel and houses the tomb of the great writer Ioan Slavici, offering a perfect and meaningful conclusion to this unforgettable journey.
